In the heart of the beautiful village of Ishobpur, within the local district of Osmaninagar, stands a place of hope, care and opportunity — the Ishak Miah & Somirunnessa Foundation.
Established in 2017 on ancestral land gifted with love and vision, the foundation was born from a simple but powerful belief: every child deserves safety, education and the opportunity to build a dignified future. Over two years of careful planning and construction, that vision became reality. In January 2019, the foundation officially opened its doors in a heartfelt grand opening ceremony, welcoming its first 15 underprivileged young children.
Ishobpur is a large village with a dense population of underprivileged children, and prior to the foundation’s creation, no such establishment existed to support them locally. For many vulnerable families, access to structured care, education and shelter simply was not available. The project holds even deeper meaning as it stands on ancestral land belonging to the founders of the Foundation — transforming family heritage into a lasting legacy of service for generations to come.
Today, the foundation is home to 35 children.
More than just shelter, the Ishak Miah & Somirunnessa Foundation provides a nurturing environment where children grow academically, spiritually and practically. The students follow a structured curriculum that includes formal education, Islamic studies and essential vocational skills — including information technology training — equipping them with tools needed for the modern world. The goal is not simply education, but empowerment: to help each child become self-sufficient and capable of supporting themselves and their future families.
The foundation assumes full responsibility for every child in its care. From three nutritious meals a day and safe lodging to clothing, tuition and comprehensive medical care, every necessity is provided. The current monthly upkeep cost of £1,500 ensures that each child’s needs are met with dignity and consistency.
The impact is already evident. To date, 26 students have successfully graduated and moved on to meaningful occupations across Bangladesh, carrying forward the values and skills they gained at the foundation.
Beyond its walls, the foundation extends its compassion to the wider local community. Throughout the year, warm clothing, blankets and essential supplies are distributed to underprivileged families. Once annually, the foundation expands its outreach even further by hosting international doctors who provide free medical checks and healthcare services to those in need — offering care to individuals who might otherwise go without.
The foundation operates entirely on private donations, receiving no government funding. Every contribution directly supports the children and the surrounding community.
A few years ago, the orphanage was honoured to be selected as the international charity of choice by a local private school in Surrey, United Kingdom. Over a two-year period, substantial funds were raised, significantly benefiting the children and strengthening the foundation’s mission.
Registered in the UK as a charity (No. 1200491), the Ishak Miah & Somirunnessa Foundation continues to grow with the unwavering commitment of its supporters.
What began on ancestral land in a small village has become a lasting legacy — a place where compassion creates opportunity, where education builds independence, and where vulnerable children are given not only a home, but a future.
